Mrs. Mary Alice Brown-Phillips

Once upon a time, a beautiful baby girl named Mary Alice was born on April 15, 1944, in Braxton, Mississippi. She was adored by her parents Sandy and Hattie Beatrice Brown, preceded her in death. They were so excited to finally have a child, after being married for nearly ten years. She was the oldest of her siblings, Arthur (Toni) Brown – Oakland, California; twins Bernice and Bernice Brown -preceded her in death; Sandy Brown Jr, Pinola, Mississippi; Bertha (Roscoe) Johnson, New Hebron, Mississippi; twins Robert – preceded her in death and Roberta Davis, Pinola, Mississippi; Matthew (Charlie Mae) Brown, Pinola, Mississippi, and Gary – preceded her in death. From the very beginning, she was raised as a princess and was dressed in fine clothes and with bows and frills to accent her attire. Thus, starting her love for fashion. She was tall, slim, and GAWGOUS! She’s always loved looking classy and elegant. Mary Alice became a model in Mid-West, and began doing shows, and print for many major outlets in the city of Chicago and surrounding areas. While living in Chicago, she caught the attention of this handsome guy, named Ralph (preceded in death). He was a lion hunting for his help mate. He pursued her and the rest is history! They had two adorable children, Randall (Leslie) Phillips, Bartlett, TN, and Veronica (Michael) Boyd, Forrest City, AR. After some years, they decided to move to Forrest City, Arkansas, Ralph’s birthplace. Immediately, she became a socialite. Always going to events, volunteering to help her community, visiting other churches, supporting her friends, family, associates, and dedicating her life to her church home Salem. Oh, what a wonderful time she has had! She has truly lived and not just existed! She also loved traveling all over the country, but I bet you can already guess her favorite pastime, yes, it was SHOPPING! She leaves to cherish her grands and God grands, Jamelle, JayNe’, LaZerek, Israel, Jewyl, Sasha, Jasmine, Brandon, Jordan, Daniel, Desmond, Trenzall, Raven, Darrel, Karen, and Jazzalyn. Affectionately known as “Mother Mary” to her God Children, Rev. Pernell (Debra) Brown, Rev. Anthony Marion, Kimberly Gilliam, Alice Williford, LaShia (Jarvis) Hawkins, Cadarius Price, and Christy (Chris) Gross. Mary Alice also leaves to cherish her in-laws, Ulon Phillips, Jr., Rochester, NY, Althea (James) Jordan, Forrest City, AR, Gloria Durr and Adair Phillips, Memphis, TN; and special friends, Annie Williams, Odessa Howard, Everyn Culley, Johnnie Toney, and Lorine Hardrick
