Mrs. Pearline Denise Norwood-Woodhouse

Mrs. Pearline Norwood Woodhouse was born on November 19, 1952, the fifth child of 11 children to the late Benjamin Harrison Norwood and the late Pauline Robinson Norwood in West Memphis, Arkansas. She confessed her faith in Christ at a young age. As a young girl she was trained to take care of her siblings. Like her mother taught her she would cook for them and babysit for her mother. She also chopped cotton, picked peaches with her grandfather. She attended Evan’s Elementary School went on to Lincoln High School. She was a wonderful cook. She loved to Barbeque and make her special sauce. Her signature cake was German Chocolate to this day nobody can duplicate her recipe. Her family meant the world to her. She would often talk about her siblings achievements. She was often misunderstood because she always spoke her true mind. Giving advice was her specialty. She met the love of her life James Woodhouse in 1973, they later united in holy matrimony. To this union there were no children. In 1975 they invested in a very successful family business Woodhouse Mortuary. They served and blessed their community and surrounding areas professionally and compassionately; often helping those in need. Later she attended Crowley’s Ridge Vo-Tech and received her CNA certification. She worked for the Arkansas Department of Health as a Personal Care Health Tech for 25 years in the In-Home services department providing care for Personal Care and Hospice patients. She rededicated her life to Christ and joined Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Ricky Benson until her health failed. She was preceded in death by her husband James Woodhouse; four sisters, Virginia Norwood, Edna Lee Norwood Carter, Doris Jean Norwood and Bernice Lynn Norwood; one brother, Cleveland Norwood. Pearline departed from time to eternity on September 19, 2020. She leaves not to mourn her departure, but to cherish fond memories, a son Darrell (Linda) Norwood of Collinsville, Illinois and a daughter LaShia (Jarvis) Hawkins of Forrest City, Arkansas; five brothers, Lavern (Chevon) Norwood of Raleigh, North Carolina, Doyle (Angeline) Norwood of Las Vegas, Nevada, Milton Norwood of Memphis, Tennessee, Michael (Rachelle) Norwood of Little Rock, Arkansas and Jerry Norwood of Lansing, Michigan; seven grandchildren, Darrell (Porchesa) Norwood, Jr, Darius (Kirsten) Norwood, Caitlin Norwood, Kelton Hawkins, Olivia Norwood, Layla Norwood, and Kirstan Hawkins; three great-grandchildren, Jasmine Norwood, Robert Norwood and Austin Brown; one aunt, Novella Burnly of Cleveland, Ohio; one great-aunt Lois Pearson of Raleigh, North Carolina. She will also be remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.
